Three Counties Open Show 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The Three Counties Open Show was held on Sunday 12th August at Pinewood Park near Crowthorne.  This Show, the second in the 2012 SuperBowl Competition attracted 194 entries with all the classes covered, the largest being small characins with seventeen exhibits.

 

The 2012 points competition was taken up again and as the judging commenced Keith Sollitt  ably assisted by Heather Gardner were soon kept busy recording and posting the results. Diploma classes were very evenly spread. Class 2 Diploma for Characins was won by the Hemigrammus Rio Paraguay  of John Egan and Class 3 Cichlids Diploma was won by Keith Sollitt with Altolamprologus calvus. Class 9 Diploma was taken by Roy Chapman with a Tanichthys micagemmae and Heather Gardner took the Diploma Class 10 for loaches with her Yunnanilus cruciatus. Roy Chapman also took the Class 12 award with a top sword guppy. The final Diploma was awarded for Class 20 and this was won by the Black Moor of Steve & Debbie Edwards. All Diploma winners were presented with Certificates, Filters sponsored by Porton Aquatics and additional food prizes by Aqua One.

 

Best in Show was another tough challenge for the judges but the final decisions went to the Leporacanthicus galaxias of Rob Thomas placed first, Keith Sollitt took another second Best in Show this time with Cyprinella lutrensis and Heather Gardner was placed third with Yunnanilus cruciatus. The winners were duly presented with Best in Show Certificates and extra food awards. Food prizes for the Show were sponsored by Tetra & Aqua One.

Roy Chapman was presented with the engraved glass for Round Two of the SuperBowl and also the Three Counties Individual Show Trophy.

 

The Three Counties Club Award was presented to Port Talbot as the highest pointed society.

The Junior riband was presented to Eleanor Ralph.

 

 

The Competition now moves to its third and final round which is the BDAS Show to be held on Sunday 23rd September at Kempshott Village Hall near Basingstoke.

Thanks to all the exhibitors and the show team including the judges Chris Ralph, How Pang, Andy Cluer, Alan Dunne and trainee judge Mats Petersson; executive judge Andy Pearce. Thanks also to Keith and Heather for their hard work as Show Secretary and Sandra & Maisie for providing refreshments.
